Perfect Timing

Some things you’re not letting happen right now because the timing isn’t perfect for you. Some you’re not letting happen because you are very aware of where you are. But all things, as they are happening, are happening in perfect order. And if you will relax and begin saying, “Everything in its perfect time. Everything is unfolding. And I’m enjoying where I am now, in relationship to where I’m going. Content where I am, and eager for more,” that is the perfect vibrational stance.

Making Progress with WordPress!

I finally have WordPress looking like how I want it. What’s next is to make gallery look pretty.  I guess I’ll be working over that this weekend.  Somewhere between going to the comedy club and BBQ tomorrow with the fam.  I’d like to have it finished this weekend, but We’ll see. :?

I Miss My Time with Me

It’s been a busy pasty couple of days without much time to myself. I will be definitely working on recharging myself soon. Yes, I’m a classic introvert and I’m NOT going to apologize for it.

I bought another video card to replace the Radeon x600. I wanted to upgrade mainly to get a video card that supported HDCP so that I could watch Blu-Ray movies on my computer. I’m not a gamer at all so a powerful and expensive video card isn’t required. After discovering that the x600 could not handle full screen 1080i video, I wanted to get a new video card right away.

New Video Card
Per usual, I went to Newegg and looked at sub $100 video cards with the best rating. The HIS Hightech H467QT512P, a Radeon 4670 based card was at the top of the list. It was cheap (around $86) and I didn’t hesitate to order it right then and there. I made sure it had at least 512MB of GDDR memory and was HDCP compliant and finalized the purchase of the card without looking at it more closely. After reading the reviews more closely, I discovered that it takes up two slots due to the large cooling fan. It was too late to cancel the order. My card had been charged and the order was processed. The PCI-e x16 slot is next to the x4 slot which had my Aver Media tuner plugged in. I was going to loose dual tuner capability. UGH. I chucked it up as a lost since I had already previously decided that I wanted to get a HDHomeRun tuner. But the $160 price tag was going to be tough to swallow. I started considering using USB tuners instead of internal cards, but I may just get another motherboard that has two x16 slots (for Crossfire or SLI) and room to add my tuner.

I ordered the card on a Friday and it arrived on Tuesday at work. I installed it right away after I got home. I downloaded a couple of demo games (Watchmen and Bioshock) and it looks pretty good on high settings in those games. I decided to stress it with Crysis and it wasn’t hard to do so. LOL I had to back the resolution WAAAY down and turn down/off some visual quality settings. I didn’t get a chance to play it alot yet. Maybe when I get home today.

Home made HDTV Saga continues…
Since I lost AC3 audio decoding for the Pinnacle software and refusing to pay the $5 upgrade, I decided to see what I could do about receiving over the air (OTA) digital broadcasts. I bought a $30 RCA “flat” indoor HDTV antenna from Walmart. It’s lightweight, small and beige and it could be oriented horizontally (preferred) or vertically. Boring looking, but it works. I hooked it up to both of my tuners using the splitter (loosing the cable signal, but I didn’t care). I set it up in my window and I got most (if not all of the local stations sans some located in Athens I believe). All of the major networks came in clear with full signal. I was amazed at how clear the picture was. Though sitting up close on a high pixel density monitor you will see some imperfections in the picture. I did notice some compression artifacts in some of the broadcasts. I was disappointed to discover that my favorite Fox shows (24 and Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles) were shown in 720p. Lost didn’t look bad as long as I backed away from the monitor a bit while watching it. And you can really notice the imperfections in the news broadcasters faces. Man, the make up isn’t helping!

On Personality

Last night, I found out a friend of mine was elected SGA President at Tuskegee University. I am so happy for her.

When I called to congratulate her, she was on her way back from the Ethics Bowl Competition. She told me that they won a few rounds, but were not able to move up in the competition. After I hung up with her, I started thinking about the type of people who just get involved with stuff while they are at school. You know the type of people who do a lot of academic extra circular activities such as student government, debate teams, academic bowls, etc. In high school, I participated in quite a few competitions and even won some awards; but I was never apart of SGA. It wasn’t really organized at my high school anyway.

I consider myself to be a low key, background, support person. I usually don’t like making decisions for people I suppose for fear of making the wrong decisions then dealing with upset people. Being the non-confrontational person that I am, leaders often have to deal with conflict, and that’s not my area. In high school, most times I was usually made group leader. I don’t know if my classmates thought I was smart, or they just didn’t want the responsibility (probably more so the later). I rarely go for the leadership roll, but will take on the responsibility if there is a lack of interest for the position or the people who are involved seem to just can’t get it together then I’ll step up (if it’s something I want to be a part of anyway).

In undergrad, I had a stint of rebel in me. I was somewhat anti-anything organized. I don’t know why though. However, I wish I had participated in academic extracurricular activities, even SGA just for the experience. I probably felt I wasn’t smart enough. And I was probably too involved with my work study job at the time.

I joined this website called, StumbleUpon.com where you find sites that may interest you that you may not otherwise find. You can also have friends on StumbleUpon and see what sites that they are interested in as well. StumbleUpon has a Firefox extensions and it lets you Stumble! (randomly selects a site from your interests), thumbs up or thumbs down the site, share the site with friends, or view your StumbleUpon friend’s interests and some other things. I haven’t made any “friends” on their yet.

I was filling out my profile on the site, and there was an option to select your personality. I looked at the options, and there was stuff in there like INFP, ENSP, and different combinations 4 letters. I’ve seen those letters before and I took a personality test back at my Aunt and Uncle’s last Thanksgiving. I forgot what mine was, so I clicked the link where it said, “take the test.”

After rating myself on a series of statements such as “I am very introspective person” or “I am very outgoing,” I was told what my personality was. ISFP. I think I was INFP last time I took the test, but I couldn’t find the paper with my score on it. Below is the web clip from the site.

ISFP – “Artist”. Interested in the fine arts. Expression primarily through action or art form. The senses are keener than in other types. 8.8% of total population.

I laughed at this. I really don’t consider myself to be an artist, but I do like creative things. Below is more information on the ISFP personality. The things in bold are what I identity with.

disorganized, timid, prone to discouragement, socially uncomfortable, does not like leadership, suggestible, not self confident, not aggressive, lower energy, fearful, anxious, easily distracted, prone to discontentment, guarded, not confrontational, prone to longing for a stabilizing relationship, can be overwhelmed by unpleasant feelings, easily disturbed, fears drawing attention to self, prone to confusion, private, second guesses self, prone to quitting, underachiever, fears rejection in relationships, emotionally moody, prone to sadness, dislikes change, indecisive, modest, doubting, prone to laziness

Hrmm, not much in there that I can identify with. I should take it again to see what I get. I’d like for my friends and family who read this to take the test as well and share their results. =)

Wikipedia Edit

I edited my first Wikipedia entry today.
Voltron Mecha

I added the fact that Lance piloted the Blue Lion in once episode and that the Princess piloted the Red Lion in the same episode.
