On RelationSHIPS

The following link is from a post that one of my Twitter buds wrote about relationships. I thought it was pretty powerful. Opened my eyes.

It’s Over. Here is the Official Score.

Calculus II —————————– C

Dynamics —————————— C

Circuits II —————————— C

Electronics II ————————– D

I was slightly peeve about the D in Electronics, but it was expected.  Ah well. I am very glad and thankful to the Lord that I got out of the other classes. *phew*

I’ll be spending my Xmas break here in good ole Skegee.  My parents are planing stay a week in Florida and maybe even stay longer.  I can’t do that, I’ll get bored, besides, I have things to do here in Skegee.

Othello, Khaliah and Daniel is also staying here and a good friend, Veronica, of mine sent me an ISCA mail telling me she is going to be in down during the break. Cool. Today, I was thinking about having Christmast dinner at my house (since I got paid for the work I did in the T-Cam lab) and inviting Khaliah, Othello, Daniel, and Veronica. I also have an option of eating at the Jimmehs, Aaron’s house or going to Montgomery and eating with the Smileys.

Daven dropped by Othello’s. I think he is staying the night but leaving tomorrow.  He’ll be back in January and he and Othello have made plans to see “Lord of the Rings” and invited me to go.

Daniel and I have started working on “The Project.”  The “Project” is to setup and configure a domain with an email and web server and serveral clients. The details are on the web site.  So far so good, we have most of the major hurdles out of the way such as DNS and Mail (with a few issues). We’ve done alot of work, so I think I’ll stop for a minute and document what we have done so far and post it to the web site. I also have some other projects like completing the photo and belief links on my web page, upgrading Fire, (I forgot to get the key to the server room before I left work Friday *UGH*) and installing Solaris on a box.

Well, It’s Almost Over

For Turkey Day, I rode with my parents down to our old hometown, Sarasota,
FL. The Thanksgiving Holiday is my grandmother’s family reunion, so that means everyone is to show up. I missed last years; I was actually the only one that didn’t show up. This year, Aunt Debra and my brother were missing in action.

Our trip began Wednesday morning around 11ish. When the Johnson’s travel to Florida, we always pick up I-75 in Macon, and ride it all the way down to Sarasota. There were several traffic jams that slowed our journey, but we made it there around 8:30pm. We were the first ones to arrive, then the newly weds with Aunt Hortense and her family arriving the next day.

I got to see Tavisha and her mom. I hadn’t seen her in so long.  She has really slimed down a lot, her mom too. But I believe her mom was ill for a time. Her mom had a baby with some Mexican guy that is now deported.  Tavisha was married to a muslim guy from Israel, they are getting a devoirce and he is being deported as well. :-P DRAMA!!!

Anyway, Friday, I actually did a little bit of studying, mostly math though. It was urgent since I had a test that Tuesday when we got back.  Now we are down to two more days of school before this semester is over.  I have a final in Math on Wednesday. EE330 and EE322 on Friday and Dynamics on Monday.

I cannot wait for this semester is over so I can relax a little bit.  I’ve been studying all day and I am feeling burnt out allready. :-P

Road Trip

Yesterday, I rode with John to Cascagoula, MS. He had an interview with Northtrop-Grumman They build big ships. That’s all I know about them. We left Tuesday evening after he rented a white ’01 Dodge Stratus. Pascagoula, MS is a straight shot. We took I-85 south to Montgomery then picked up I-65 to Mobile then switched over to I-10. We got off at exit 69 where the Hampton Inn is located.

We arrived at the Hampton Inn (the company paid for it) around 10:30. After we unpacked the car, we drove out to where is job is so we wouldn’t have to hunt for it in the morning and we didn’t know how traffic is in that little town. The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the ship yard. We followed the directions and found the place with no problems.

On the way back, I drove and we got lost. After leaving the ship yard, the access road is very dark at night (no lights) and we didn’t know where we were going. So I went straight, not knowing I should have turn right off where the sign said “Exit” Duh! I didn’t see it anyway, and we went riding… Stuff started to not look familiar. We said stuff did, but it didn’t. We saw like a bazillion Crystals and Hancock Bank signs. Lower Mississippi has enough of those I tell ya. Driving for almost an hour, I decided to head back in the opposite direction. Good thing my bearings were good. Things started to look familiar again, especially after passing over the draw bridge. Anyway, we made the series of left turns to get back (since we made a series of rights).

The next morning, we grabbed some grub at McDonalds, which was probably a 10th of a mile from the Hampton, and headed on to John’s interview. He had to be there at 8:45, and since I didn’t know how traffic was going to be, I suggested we leave at 7:45. Well, we left at 8:00 and we still go there in plenty of time. “Too Be on time is to be late,” is what I always like to say. I think I got it from Pastor Simms. When we got there, John told me to be back there at 10am. I said no problem and I wanted to ride around anyway. I headed back to the hotel afterwards to relax a bit then headed back towards Cascagoula. I stopped by the Wal-Mart and looked around in their electronic section. I pick up The Iron Giant DVD and Johnny Mnemonic I’ve seen JM before, but not The Iron Giant. I got back to the ship yard place at 10:00am on the dot. No John in site. I listened to the radio for a while then decided to check in on him. I went in there and spoke with the secretary and she informed me that he has four interviews and wouldn’t be out by 1:30, 2 at the latest. I thanked her and I headed towards the area where we got lost last night (on purpose this time). It was in the day light that I saw the exit sign, but I kept straight because I wanted to go exploring.

While riding on the road in Gautier, MS (that’s the city where we got lost), I saw on a mall on my right and I immediately pulled over. YES!!! I thought. I parked on the Sears side, and began my mall exploration.

I checked out a computer store (couldn’t resist). It was called “Computer Repair” something or other and it was your typical mom and pop computer store in a small town. The shop was very very small. Not much standing room and the owner didn’t’ have alot of merchandise on view. He told me that he is in the process of moving to a larger store elsewhere in the mall. I told him I was looking for a Athlon Processor around 1Ghz range. He informed me he only had 1.2 and 1.4 Athlon’s combo’ed with motherboard. He couldn’t tell me the price and didn’t have the boards on hand and everything seem to be in boxes. He told me that he should be moved in a couple of days, which couldn’t help me any, as I would not be returning after I left.

I continued on and saw Walden Books. I checked out their sci-fi section, then I went over to the computer section. I picked up a Photoshop 6 book, knowing I need to enhance my image editing skills with such a powerful program at my Disposal.

Moving on, in the mall, I checked out Kay-Bee Toy Store. I picked up Wing Zero Custom and Sega Rally 2. I then went to Sound and Muisc and bought the first 2 sets of the Macross Saga.

That was it for me. I headed back to NG and waited for John. It was 2 and it was going to take about 4 hours to get back to Auburn, before Enterprise Rent A Car closed. We got there 5 minutes before closing. :)

All in all, it was good to get away from Tuskegee, even for a day.

Car Shopping

I went with Robert last Tuesday (the 16th) to LaGrange, GA to look at some cars. He saw a white ’94 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 on the web somewhere and was interested. The car was located at the Nissian car dealer (Larry Rich) in LaGrange, GA.

While I was there waiting while Robert talked to one of the sales people, I fell in love with the New ’02 Altima.  I previous did not like them from looking at the magazine and TV ads. But pictures do not do this car justice.  You have to see this car in person.  It’s big and roomy, and fast… let alone that it is expensive…

Took the second Electronic Test this past Wednesday.  I think I did pretty ok on it.  Hopefully at least a B or something.  Dona got a 98, the highest in the class.

This weekend is homecoming. I saw some of the alumi that use to work in the office. John B is here, Said, Pheobe showed up briefly, I saw Aliki also. There was a lunch today in the cafe of just our office and I missed it. Had I know, I would have gone. I didn’t get out of bed til 12:30 this afternoon. Othello and John were over last night, or should a say EARLY this morning watching a Kenshin movie. Samuri X i think. It was a tight movie, but I was very sleepy.  I also cleaned up last night. I just got into one of those moods.

Birthday Wishes

Another birthday has come and gone.  No one even called. I got a couple of birthday wishes, but after I told them it was my birthday.  I don’t know how I should feel about that.  I figure birthday’s get less important as you get older. My brother remembered and sent me an ecard.  My parents sent money (mostly to help out with rent and utilities), and Florida Grandma sent me some money as well (recieved it Friday).

I started working on Tuskegee’s University’s NSBE Chapter Web Site.  I really like doing web pages and can even see myself doing it for a living, but I much prefer messing around with Unix boxes and such.  The love I once had for electrical engineering is fading, though I still find some parts of it interesting. My goal is
to have my own buisness doing something, fulfilling a niche or something.  Me and Lutalo will have to do some braintstorming.  He has some ideas.

Got a call from the T-Cam Lab tonight. They need help with some license issues with their Sun Boxes.

My Mid term exams didn’t go well at all. I had a calculus II test Tuesday that I will be diligently preparing for. I may end up dropping Probs and Stats… What an icky class!!! It’s not likes it’s hard. I just don’t put alot of effort into it. What am I doing then…. *sigh* I am so tired of school.

We went to Hurtsboro this past Sabbath for their Youth Day. We had previously
plan to attend Bethany SDA Church in Montgomery, but Anthony spoke with Richard and told him that Youth Federation was next week in Montgomery.
So we decided that we’ll go next week. BIG MISTAKE.

Service in Hurtsburo was pretty dry and as usual, there wasn’t enough food. Still hungry, the college kids opted to go home and get some more food. On the way back, I became nausiated and was feeling pretty bad.

On the ride back, Zahra told me that Mono and Digliserides aren’t from pork as I had previous thought and was told.  She spoke with one of her professors and we had a little debate about it in the car.  I even asked Anthony while we were grocery shopping and he told me that it wasn’t from pork, but might as well be because it’s a bad fat. I’ve been avoiding it pretty much anyway.  Ah well.

Busy

Well, I am been pretty busy the past couple of weeks studying for test and doing homework.  School is becoming very demanding even with 16 hrs.  And all of those are tough classes.  But I am sucking it up because I want to get out of here. :)

John was by the house last night when I got back from a study session.  He, Othello and myself were talking about plans after school, like getting married, grad school and getting a job and stuff like that.

I’ve been working on Tuskegee University’s Solar Decathlon’s web site.  It is going pretty well.

I had three exams last week. They…. went….well, they just went!

The first full week of school has come and gone.

It was pretty good. I am getting a pretty good feel of how classes are going to run.

I did get the Probs and Stats book last Thursday. John gave me $10 to help me get it since all I had was a $50 book voucher, $40 in cash and $14 or so dollars left on my debit card. The book with tax came to $112 something, so I was able to get it and do my homework, which I turned in on time. =).

Brother Wright’s wife, Angela, was in town this weekend. She came home for labor day. She move to Texas after finding a better paying job there when she was just visiting some friends.  Bro Wright, and Cheyanne (their daughter) will move to Texas in about a year.

Last semester, some of the college kids (mainly Prisca, Zahra, LaRhonda, Ambi and myself) would go over the Wrights house on a Sunday afternoon and eat dinner. The food as good, I mean, GREAT!!!  We did this almost every Sunday. We were disappointed to find out they were moving to Georgia, since there would be no more Sunday afternoon dinners for hungry college kids. Later as the summer progressed, I find out the Wrights aren’t moving to Georgia after all. So I was happy, but only for a moment.  Bro Wright told me that his wife found a better job in Texas and that she would be moving there with him and follow a few months later.  And I was further disappointed when I found out that he didn’t cook.

So, this past Sunday was the last of the dinners we would have at the Wrights house ever in Tuskegee. And I forgot to bring my camera also. :-P

Another school year has began….

I have neglected my journal again for a couple of days. Time to get back on track. Nothing much has happened since my last entry… Oh yeah, the movie is finished. Forgot to export it before Emmanuel wiped the iMac’s  hard drive so he could installed OS X Server. Everyone said they liked the movie, but I hated it. I hated doing it. I guess because of the time I had to do it. I stressed over it which also I hated and right before school.

So, I haven’t had a real vacation this summer.  Which is all good.

I am not registered yet, still waiting for this financial aid to kick in.  Registration is back in Chappie this year and they have done something a little different. Last Monday and Tuesday was registration for Freshman and transfer students. Wednesday through this coming Tuesday is registration for upperclassmen and freshman who haven’t finished registering yet. Upper classmen registration is going by alphabet according to last name and has been started at 2pm which is different. But all in all, registration seems to be a little bit more organized this year.

First week of classes went ok. I adjusted better than I thought I did.  Feeling kind of non-chalant about the whole experience. I also feel way behind since I wasn’t in school last semester. But I am looking forward in doing well this semester. I am taking 14 hours, which is the max I can take right now since I have some class conflicts with Physics 311  (which I really wish I could take this semester). Dynamics is showing up as 0 credit hours for me. I have to ask the registrar the deally with that.

I am also waiting on my contract. Ms. Chisolm signed the PAF, just waiting for it to go through personnel. *sigh*

This weekend, all the (church) students have made it back, except for Jason. He should be in soon. Sasha is back and her fiance is down as well visiting for a while. She has lost alot of weight. Saint is back. He is staying with me temporarily till he gets registered and when he finds a place.

Saw Jansen at Wal-Mart today.

YAH!!! 3 more days till pay day.

This past Thursday, Christian had to go to traffic court in Clayton county Georgia. Their judicial center is NICE! I had to drive him up there because he doesn’t have his license (had them taken away; too many tickets). The reason he got a ticket in Clayton county is when he was at Hartsfield International Airport, he left his car unattended at the pickup gate.

On the way back to Skegee, I stopped off in Newnan to do some shopping and to catch my brother before work.

Our office is putting together a small video of all the labs on campus for freshman orientation. I am helping out on that. Also I will be setting up web streaming for summer graduation on Friday.

This past Friday, I figured out how to export a Quicktime movie with fast-start. I am helping Sunday with a project he is doing with the engineering department. Also worked with iDVD briefly. Going to burn some footage Sunday took in Dr. Oni’s and Dr. Giles classes to DVD using iDVD.

I also started a new look for this site.
